Mounting to Conserve
Our innovative framing solutions prioritize the conservation of your artwork, making mounting a crucial aspect. To safeguard your framed works, we carefully select museum-quality rag mat boards available in various widths and natural tones. Crafted from 100% cotton fiber, these solid core boards have stood the test of time as a stable material in paper-making. Not only are they acid-free, but they also possess the ability to absorb acid from the artwork and the environment. It is vital to avoid using non-archival or unsuitable materials to adhere to or support your artwork, as they can lead to avoidable damage and potentially diminish the value of your collection.
The Backing Board
The use of proper backing boards is to protect matted or floated artwork. An acid-free corrugated board or a corrugated plastic board will keep your artwork acid-free and guard against damage caused by drastic humidity changes. The backing is sealed with special black tape, which protects the artwork and preserves the frame. Additional attention on the frame corners prevents direct contact with the wall surface and allows for proper air circulation around the artwork and frame.
The Glazing
The glazing technique is to serve a variety of art mediums to allow air circulation and eliminate possible damage to your art caused by moisture, smoke, acidic fumes, or other conditions that can threaten the artwork. Museum-quality UV-filtering plexiglass and glass are recommended to protect valuable collections from color-fading UV rays due to light exposure. The glazing also offers anti-reflective and anti-static properties.
