As an artist deeply rooted in the rich cultural and architectural heritage of Malaysia, my work has always been a reflection of our nation’s journey through time. The "Jiwa Merdeka" exhibition is a culmination of my artistic exploration of Malaysia’s past, present, and future.

The title "Jiwa Merdeka," which translates to "Spirit of Independence," resonates profoundly with the themes I have sought to capture in this series. Each piece in this collection is a testament to the enduring spirit of Malaysia, a nation that has beautifully preserved its historical essence while boldly embracing modernity.

My paintings prominently feature the Merdeka 118 tower, a symbol of Malaysia’s progress and forward momentum. By juxtaposing this modern architectural marvel with the traditional shophouses and historical structures that define our cultural landscape, I aim to illustrate the harmonious coexistence of our heritage and contemporary advancements.

Throughout my career, I have been driven by a desire to preserve Malaysia’s architectural treasures amidst rapid modernization. This exhibition is a continuation of that mission. The intricate details and evocative scenes in my work are meant to evoke a sense of nostalgia and pride, reminding us of the importance of safeguarding our cultural identity.

In "Jiwa Merdeka," you will see not just the physical structures of Malaysia, but also the stories, memories, and spirit of the people who inhabit these spaces. My art emphasizes the local people and their interactions with their surroundings, showcasing the vibrant and dynamic culture that makes Malaysia unique.

As you walk through this exhibition, I hope you feel a connection to Malaysia’s rich heritage and an appreciation for the path we are forging towards the future. It is my belief that by looking back at where we have come from, we can better understand and shape the journey ahead.

Thank you for joining me in this celebration of Malaysia’s spirit of independence. May "Jiwa Merdeka" inspire you to reflect on our collective past, cherish our present, and look forward to a future filled with promise and unity.
